August Fireworks

During August, summer firework festivals are held all around Japan.
At the beginning of this month, I went to the Arakawa river fireworks display.
Everyone was looking forward to these fireworks because they were cancelled last year.
We hoped the organisers would produce something extra special.
We weren't disappointed! The fireworks ran for two hours and ended with a surprising finale.

Many people lined both sides of the large Arakawa river bank and levy for a good view.

August is the hottest month of the Summer season. It seams this years is exceptionally hot.
Many people wore traditional Yukata clothing with wooden shoes (geta) and cooled themselves with classic round paper fans. Small stalls lined the bank selling festival food and cold drinks.
